Workmanship. The completed case shall present a neat finished appearance both inside and outside and shall exhibit no evidence of sharp, jagged, rough or other unfinished components. The case shall be free from defects which may affect durability, serviceability and appearance.
Quality Assurance:
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Sampling. Finished cases shall be sampled and inspected in accordance with MIL-STD-105 for conformance to the construction, dimensions, workmanship and testing requirements herein, using inspection level S-2 AQL 6.5 percent defective. A lot shall be all cases submitted for inspection at one time, a sample unit shall be one complete case. Any failure of any test shall fail the sample. Three cases from each lot shall be subjected to the drop test. Any failure of the drop test shall be grounds for rejection of the lot.
Dimensional examination. The cases shall be examined for defects in dimensions. The outside dimensions shall be measured on the outside of the case and the inside dimensions shall be measured with the case open.
Inspection of the end item.
Visual examination. The end item briefcase shall be visually examined for defects in accordance with table I.
Test Procedures:
Tests. Unless otherwise specified a certificate of conformance to the test requirements may be acceptable in lieu of testing each lot. The contractor shall have available for review evidence that those tests specified herein have been performed, that the product tested conformed with the requirements of this CID, and that the product being offered has been manufactured using the same materials, processes, and manufacturing techniques, and is otherwise identical to the product tested. This certificate of conformance shall not be more than 1 year old as of the effective date of the contract.
