CASE, GENERAL UTILITY

(Artificial Leather)

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification KK-B-650A

Type III.

This commercial item description covers a box style artificial leather case of rigid construction commonly known as catalog case.

Salient characteristics:

Size. The finished outside dimensions of the rectangular case shall be as follows (all dimensions are minimum):

Length (Overall at the bottom): 18 inches

Height (Overall at the center, not including handle): 13 inches

Width (Overall at bottom center): 8 inches

Inside dimensions shall be a minimum of 1 inch less than the minimum outside dimensions.

The case shall be made from a reinforced vinyl material (artificial leather) with a rigid frame. The case shall be top-opening with through-the-flap handle fastening. The case shall have a steel core handle with stitched vinyl covering of the same color and grain of the case material. The hinges of the opening flaps shall be made from matching leather or expanded vinyl. The hinges shall be of sufficient strength to prevent the opening flaps from sagging.

The case may utilize molded plastic ends providing they match the color of the case material and have a decorative embossing or grain. The case shall have two full-size flexible interior dividers.

The color of the case shall be brown, conforming to the manufacturer�s established commercial product.

The case shall have 2 locks which use one common key. Two keys shall be supplied, both shall open both locks. All metal hardware shall be either nickel-plated or brass-plated.

The bottom of the case shall have minimum of 4 steel or plastic bumpers (feet) to rest the case on in the upright position. If constructed from steel, the bumpers shall be either brass or nickel plated.
