3.2 Visual examination. Lots of bags shall be inspected in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The inspection level shall be II, and that the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 6.5. The lot size shall be expressed in units of bags. The sample size shall be one bag. The bag shall be examined for the following defects: defects in design, material, construction, or workmanship; any component full, tight, or twisted; open seam; any size hole, cut, or tear; any spot or stain clearly noticeable; keys missing.
3.3 Dimensional examination. The finished end items shall be examined without damaging or disassembling the end items specified. Any dimensions not within the specified tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in units of bags. The sample unit shall be one bag. The inspection level shall be S-3, and the AQL expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5.
3.4 Metric product. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified tolerances using conversion tables contained in the latest revision or Federal Standard No. 376, and all other requirements of this Commercial Item Description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine of the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
3.5 Regulatory requirement. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
4. PACKAGING
4.1 Packaging. Each money bag with keys placed inside shall be folded and preserved and packed in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
4.2 Packing. Six money bags, packaged as specified above, shall be packed in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
43 Palletization. When specified (see 5.2), money bags, packed as specified, shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with bonding means C and D, or film bonding means F or G, in accordance with MIL-STD-147, or as specified in the contract or purchase order.
4.4 Marking. In addition to any special markings required by the contract or purchase order, unit packs, shipping containers, and palletized unit loads shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129 or ASTM 3951, as applicable.
